25 LC 112 3180 House Resolution 439 By: Representatives Jones of the 143rd, Herring of the 145th, Griffin of the 149th, Paris of the 142nd, and Washburn of the 144th A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Northeast High School Raiders football team for participating in the 20241 GHSA Class A Division 1 State Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Raiders football team of Northeast High School in Macon, Georgia, has3 demonstrated extraordinary skill, determination, and sportsmans hip throughout the 20244 season; and5 WHEREAS, under the exceptional leadership of Head Coach Jeremy Wiggins, the Northeast6 Raiders achieved a remarkable 12-3 record, showcasing their tal ent and dedication on the7 field; and8 WHEREAS, the Raiders made history by advancing to the GHSA Class A Division 1 State9 Championship game for the first time in school history, bringing pride and excitement to the10 East Macon community; and11 WHEREAS, the team's success was built on the outstanding perfor mances of key players12 such as senior running back Nick Woodford, who amassed 2,494 ya rds and 41 total13 touchdowns, nearly breaking the county single-season rushing re cord; junior quarterback14 Reginald "Bam" Glover, who achieved both 1,000 rushing and 1,00 0 passing yards in the15 H. R. 439 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3180 season; senior linebacker Santana Balkcom, who averaged nearly 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks16 per game; junior linebacker Tailen Sampson, who consistently contributed eight tackles per17 game; and Kortnei Williams, who demonstrated exceptional defens ive skills with an18 impressive 10 interceptions; and19 WHEREAS, the Northeast Raiders' journey to the state championsh ip game united the20 community, inspiring students from elementary to high school and reigniting Raider pride21 throughout East Macon; and22 WHEREAS, the team's historic season included hosting the first Macon home semifinal23 game since 1975, defeating Fitzgerald 46-14 in a commanding performance; and24 WHEREAS, the Northeast Raiders' achievements extend beyond the field as they have25 become role models for perseverance, teamwork, and academic excellence, embodying the26 true spirit of student-athletes.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body congratulate the Northeast High School Raiders football team upon29 its outstanding 2024 season, its historic run to the state championship game, and its positive30 impact on the community as well as celebrate its achievements a nd the bright future it31 represents for Macon-Bibb County.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the34 Northeast High School Raiders football team.35 H.
