25 LC 129 0211 Senate Resolution 324 By: Senators Walker III of the 20th, Beach of the 21st, Kennedy of the 18th, Gooch of the 51st, Anavitarte of the 31st and others A RESOLUTION Honoring and commending the Kingdom of Denmark and Honorary Consul Christopher N.1 Smith, Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog 1st Class; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark have main tained unbroken3 diplomatic relations since 1801; and4 WHEREAS, established in 1802 in Georgia, the Royal Danish Consulate is one of the oldest5 foreign missions in the state; and6 WHEREAS, the Kingdom of Denmark is a founding member of NATO and a longtime ally7 of the United States; and8 WHEREAS, the economic relationship between the Kingdom of Denmark and the State of9 Georgia supports over 4,200 jobs in the State of Georgia, with over 60 Danish companies10 having offices in this state; and11 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia ranks sixth among the United Stat es in exports to the12 Kingdom of Denmark; and13 S. R. 324 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0211 WHEREAS, it is the desire of this body to encourage greater collaboration and exchanges14 between the State of Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark in the fields of economic15 development, trade, scientific research, education, medicine, b iotechnology, agriculture,16 financial technology, and cultural exchanges.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 honor the Kingdom of Denmark; promote economic development, trade, scientific research,19 education, medicine, biotechnology, agriculture, financial technology, and cultural exchanges20 between the State of Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark; and co mmend the Honorable21 Christopher N. Smith, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark in the State of Georgia.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Honorary Consul24 Christopher N.
