25 LC 112 3222 House Resolution 457 By: Representative Bell of the 75th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Kito Jamil; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, thriving communities are built by individuals who lead with vision, courage,2 and an unwavering commitment to service; and3 WHEREAS, as President of New Era Atlanta, Kito Jamil has exempl ified grassroots4 leadership through his dedication to empowering residents, fostering unity, and ensuring the5 safety and well-being of families across metro Atlanta; and6 WHEREAS, under his leadership, New Era Atlanta has organized in itiatives that provide7 resources to underserved communities, educate residents on thei r rights, support8 Black-owned businesses, and inspire collective action; and9 WHEREAS, Kito Jamil has championed programs that invest in the future of our youth,10 including the Youth Aviation Program, which exposes young peopl e to opportunities in11 aviation, and the Black Girls Have Tea Parties Too events, whic h instill the principles of12 etiquette, class, and self-confidence in young Black girls aged 6 to 18; and13 H. R. 457 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3222 WHEREAS, recognizing that true community health includes mental well-being, Kito Jamil14 has led the Mental Wealth initiative—an event designed to engag e the community in15 conversations about mental health by framing it within the value of wealth, understanding16 that people often prioritize financial success but must also invest in their mental well-being;17 and18 WHEREAS, the Mental Wealth initiative has fundamentally shifted the community's19 perspective on mental health, breaking stigmas and encouraging open dialogue around20 emotional and psychological well-being; and21 WHEREAS, Kito Jamil's work has not only transformed neighborhoods but has also ignited22 a spirit of self-determination and civic engagement throughout the region; and23 WHEREAS, his example stands as a beacon of hope, showing that w hen the people come24 together, they can build a future rooted in strength, equity, and progress.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize and commend Kito Jamil, President of New Era Atlanta,27 for his extraordinary contributions to the people of Atlanta an d his lasting impact on28 communities throughout Georgia as well as extend best wishes for continued success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Kito31 Jamil.32 H.
