25 LC 129 0244 House Resolution 473 By: Representatives Dickey of the 134th, Stinson of the 150th, Ford of the 170th, Blackmon of the 146th, Ballard of the 147th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship Pageant and congr atulating the 20241 Georgia Peach Queens; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the peach has a long been a nationally recognized symb ol for the State of3 Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, the Georgia peach industry has played a significant role in the economic growth5 and prosperity of our state, and Georgia ranks third in the nation in the annual production of6 peaches; and7 WHEREAS, the Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship Pageant originated in Peach County,8 Georgia, in 1982 thanks to the Pilot Club of Fort Valley, who conceived the pageant for the9 purpose of having Ambassadors of the famous Georgia Peach Festi val held in June each10 year; and11 WHEREAS, this annual pageant is open statewide to girls 4 to 24 for the purpose of building12 self-confidence while acknowledging those who make a positive c ontribution to the13 community; and14 H. R. 473 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0244 WHEREAS, in connection with this celebration, five very fine young ladies were crowned15 as the 2024 Peach Queens, including Miss Georgia Peach, Charlei gh Harper; Teen Miss16 Georgia Peach, Mia Loyd; Junior Miss Georgia Peach, Kendall Bel la Gaines; Little Miss17 Georgia Peach, Skye Harris; and Tiny Miss Georgia Peach, Ellie James Young; and18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this festival and its representatives be19 recognized by this body.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body commend the Miss Georgia Peach Scholar ship Pageant for22 promoting the importance of this agricultural product of Georgia and congratulate the 202423 Georgia Peach Queens.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 Board of Directors of the Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship Pageant.27 H.
