25 LC 129 0238 House Resolution 477 By: Representatives Alexander of the 66th, Bennett of the 94th, Baker of the 64th, Taylor of the 92nd, Burnough of the 77th, and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Michelle Calvo for receiving the 2025 Yellow Rose Nikki1 T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Michelle Calvo is a dedicated community leader, ordain ed minister, and10 nonprofit founder whose work is rooted in faith, advocacy, and empowerment; and 11 WHEREAS, as the founder of God's Girls United, she leads a nonp rofit dedicated to12 equipping women, girls, and young men with the tools they need to thrive through13 faith-based mentorship, community outreach, and advocacy; and14 H. R. 477 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0238 WHEREAS, Michelle Calvo has established a glowing reputation of renown throughout15 Georgia for her extensive community work, including partnering with local nonprofits, youth16 advocates, and churches to create impactful programs; offering guidance and mentorship to17 those facing systemic barriers; and working behind the scenes t o connect individuals with18 resources and relief; and19 WHEREAS, she stands as a voice for those experiencing injustice, shows up for families in20 distress, advocates for young people impacted by violence, and ensures that those who feel21 unheard are represented and supported; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body congratulate and commend Michelle Calvo for receiving the 202526 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and exten d best wishes for her27 continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Michelle Calvo.31 H.
