25 LC 112 3246 House Resolution 490 By: Representatives Taylor of the 92nd, Okoye of the 102nd, Holly of the 116th, Adeyina of the 110th, Adesanya of the 43rd, and others A RESOLUTION Commending World Coming Together To Make A Difference; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, World Coming Together To Make A Difference (WOCOTOMADI ) is a2 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering long-te rm positive change in3 communities through collaborative partnerships; and4 WHEREAS, founded in October 2011 by Julienne R. Siwe Ngongang, WOCOTOMADI was5 established to address the issue of high blood pressure, known as the "silent killer,"6 particularly within Cameroon and among Cameroonian immigrant populations; and7 WHEREAS, inspired by her training as a Certified Nurse Assistan t after moving to the8 United States in 2008, Julienne R. Siwe Ngongang sought to share vital health education with9 underserved communities and dispel myths surrounding hypertension in her country; and10 WHEREAS, WOCOTOMADI actively works to prevent hypertension by educating target11 populations in remote Cameroonian villages on the importance of exercise and healthy diets12 based on locally available foods; and13 H. R. 490 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3246 WHEREAS, the organization has established health checkpoints th at function as clinics,14 providing screenings for vital signs such as high blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and body15 temperature as well as addressing conditions such as obesity; and16 WHEREAS, WOCOTOMADI extends its impact by delivering medical supplies, clothing,17 and hygiene essentials to communities in Africa, ensuring access to essential resources for18 those in need; and19 WHEREAS, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Developmen t Goals,20 WOCOTOMADI engages governments, enterprises, and civil society to create sustainable21 solutions that improve the well-being of underserved populations; and22 WHEREAS, in the United States, WOCOTOMADI promotes public awareness of African23 traditions and values by educating younger generations on African culture through culinary24 arts, traditional clothing, storytelling, crafts, and other cultural programs; and25 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary nonprofit be appropriately26 honored during this special time.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body commend World Coming Together To Make A Difference for its29 unwavering commitment to community impact, health education, an d cultural enrichment30 and extend best wishes for continued success.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to33 World Coming Together To Make A Difference.34 H.
