25 LC 129 0277 House Resolution 499 By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th, Beckles of the 96th, Berry of the 56th, Bell of the 75th, and Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Neil "Iwer" George; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, hailing from South Trinidad, Neil 'D Boss Iwer' George is one of Trinidad and2 Tobago's most prolific cultural and Soca icons; and3 WHEREAS, since the inception of h is career, in 1987, Iwer Georg e's name has been4 synonymous with the Carnival season; and5 WHEREAS, he performs at all the major carnival events in Trinidad & Tobago such as Hyatt6 Lime, UWI All Inclusive, I UP, Jam naked, Lara All Inclusive, C andy Coated Events,7 Passage to Asia, Army Fete, Yuma events, Dimanche Gras, Jouvert Carnival Monday and8 Parade of the Bands on the road carnival Tuesday, as well as fo r numerous prestigious9 corporate events; and10 WHEREAS, he has performed regionally and internationally in Jamaica, Grenada, St. Kitts11 and Nevis, New York, Toronto, Bahamas, Germany, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Miami, and12 on the Uber Soca Cruise; and13 H. R. 499 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0277 WHEREAS, most recently, Iwer George was an actor, writer, and executive producer of the14 movie Soca Prison; and 15 WHEREAS, his exceptional musical talents have been recognized though numerous awards,16 including earning the title of Soca Monarch in 2002, 2003, 2007 , and 2020, as well as17 winning both the titles of International Soca Monarch & Road March in 2020; and18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this talented and19 devoted musician be appropriately recognized.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and commend the significant cultural and musical22 contributions of Neil "Iwer" George and extend their best wishes for his continued success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Neil25 "Iwer" George.26 H.
