25 LC 62 0133/AP House Bill 724 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representative Franklin of the 160th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act to amend, consolidate, create, revise, and supe rsede the several Acts1 incorporating the City of Pembroke, approved March 28, 1985 (Ga . L. 1985, p. 4846), as2 amended, so as to provide for four-year terms for the mayor and city council members; to3 provide for elections; to provide for the current terms of city officers to continue; to repeal4 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 An Act to amend, consolidate, create, revise, and supersede the several Acts incorporating8 the City of Pembroke, approved March 28, 1985 (Ga. L. 1985, p. 4846), as amended, is9 amended by revising Section 4 as follows:10 "Section 4.11 The next general election for mayor and five city council members shall be held on the first12 Tuesday in November, 2027, at which time a mayor and five city council members shall13 be elected to take office on the second Monday in January, 2028, for a term of four years14 and until their successors are elected and qualified. Thereafter, successors shall be elected15 at the municipal general election which shall be held every four years on the first Tuesday16 H. The terms of the currently elected mayor and18 five city council members shall remain in effect until their su ccessors are elected and19 qualified."20 SECTION 2.21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.22 H.
