A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Part 4 of Article 3 of Chapter 1 of Title 40 of the Of ficial Code of Georgia1
Annotated, relating to ride share network services and transportation referral services, so as2
to provide for additional requirements upon transportation referral service providers and ride3
share network services relative to driver safety and hiring and the privacy of personal4
information for drivers and passengers; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting5
laws; and for other purposes.6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:7
SECTION 1.8
Part 4 of Article 3 of Chapter 1 of Title 40 of the Official Co de of Georgia Annotated,9
relating to ride share network services and transportation refe rral services, is amended in10
subsection (d) of Code Section 40-1-192, relating to transportation referral service provider11
registration requirement, licensure, exemptions, and additional requirements, by deleting12
"and" at the end of paragraph (9), replacing the period with "; and" at the end of paragraph13
(10), and adding three new paragraphs to read as follows:14
"(11) Provide a manner for informing a driver utilized by such transportation referral15
service provider whether the location where such driver is to provide services has a violent16

crime rate greater than the current national average based upon statistics compiled by the17
Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program;18
(12) Ensure security and privacy of personal information colle c t e d f o r d r i v e r s a n d19
passengers; and20
(13) Provide for a grievance process for any driver utilized by such transportation referral21
service provider."22
SECTION 2.23
Said part is further amended in subsection (c) of Code Section 40-1-193, relating to ride24
share network service registration requirement, licensure, list of ride share drivers, additional25
requirements and law enforcement access to smartphone of ride s hare driver, by deleting26
"and" at the end of paragraph (4), replacing the period with "; and" at the end of paragraph27
(5), and adding three new paragraphs to read as follows:28
"(6) Provide a manner for informing a driver utilized by such ride share network service29
whether the location where such driver is to provide services h as a violent crime rate30
greater than the current national average based upon statistics compiled by the Federal31
Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program;32
(7) Ensure security and privacy of personal information collec ted for drivers and33
passengers; and34
(8) Provide for a grievance process for any driver utilized by such ride share network35
service."36
SECTION 3.37
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.38
