25 LC 112 3299 House Resolution 520 By: Representatives Dawson of the 65th, Smith of the 70th, Glaize of the 67th, Jenkins of the 136th, Bonner of the 73rd, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the City of Chattahoochee Hills; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Chattahoochee Hills is a distinctive city located in t he southwestern part of2 Fulton County, Geor gia, renowned for its picturesque countrysid e and sprawling farms,3 offering residents and visitors a serene retreat from the urban bustle of nearby Atlanta; and4 WHEREAS, during the 2006 Legislative Session, the Georgia General Assembly passed a5 law allowing the Fulton County section of the area to incorporate as a city, thereby granting6 local residents increased control over zoning and land use; and7 WHEREAS, on June 19, 2007, the residents of the area overwhelmi ngly voted in favor of8 incorporation by a margin of 83 percent to 17 percent, official ly establishing the City of9 Chattahoochee Hill Country within a 33,000-acre portion of Fult on County, with10 incorporation taking effect on December 1, 2007; and11 WHEREAS, the City of Chattahoochee Hills has since prioritized sustainable development,12 focusing on preserving its natural landscapes while fostering e conomic opportunities and13 modern infrastructure; and14 H. R. 520 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3299 WHEREAS, the city is home to recreation areas such as the Chattahoochee Hills Eventing15 Center and the Bear Creek Nature Center, which provide resident s and visitors with16 opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities; and17 WHEREAS, agritourism and sustainable agriculture play a key role in the city's economy,18 strengthening local farms and fostering a deeper appreciation for environmentally conscious19 food production; and20 WHEREAS, the City of Chattahoochee Hills is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for21 its residents through community-building efforts, economic deve lopment initiatives, and22 support for local businesses; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le city be appropriately24 honored during this special time.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize and commend the City of Chat tahoochee Hills for its27 steadfast dedication to sustainability, environmental preservat ion, and community28 development as well as extend best wishes for continued success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the31 public and the press.32 H.
