A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Teresa T. Byrd; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Dr. Teresa T. Byrd, MD, FACOG, MSCI, has recently join ed Wellstar2
Kennestone as director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residen cy Program, where she3
works to provide innovations in resident and medical student education as well as conducts4
ongoing research on pre-invasive diseases of the cervix; and5
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd has published significant studies on the use of Raman spectroscopy6
in detecting cervical dysplasia and the potential of active hex ose correlated compounds7
(AHCC) to block the expression of human papillomavirus (HPV) in patients with abnormal8
Pap tests; and9
WHEREAS, her clinical expertise has focused on minimally invasive gynecology and office10
gynecology, and her outstanding contributions have been recogni zed through numerous11
institutional and national teaching awards; and12
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the13
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and later returned to Meharry Medical14

College as a faculty member, where she earned a master's degree in clinical investigation;15
and16
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd has made a lasting impact on the field of obstetrics and gynecology17
through her research, teaching, and leadership, ensuring the ne xt generation of OB/GYNs18
receives high-quality education and training; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstandi ng contributions of this20
medical professional be appropriately honored.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22
the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Teresa T. By r d f o r h e r m a n y23
remarkable career accomplishments as well as extend sincere best wishes for future health,24
happiness, and success.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.27
Teresa T. Byrd.28
