25 LC 112 3264 Senate Resolution 363 By: Senators James of the 28th, Rhett of the 33rd, Jackson of the 41st, Mangham of the 55th, Jones of the 10th and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Alisha Thomas Searcy for receiving the 2025 Yellow Rose1 Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Alisha Thomas Searcy has demonstrated an unwavering co mmitment to10 education policy and reform, serving as the sponsor of the state's Intra-District Transfer Law11 and co-sponsoring both the state's constitutional amendment tha t established the State12 Charter School Commission and the state's Teacher Evaluation Law; and13 WHEREAS, dedicated to ensuring every child has access to a high -quality education14 regardless of zip code, she has built a career as a policymaker, superintendent, and nonprofit15 S. R. 363 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3264 leader, devoting her efforts to improving educational outcomes for students across Georgia;16 and17 WHEREAS, in her current role as President of the Southern Region for Education Reform18 Now and Democrats for Education Reform, she continues to shape education policy,19 advocate for equitable opportunities for students, and support teachers through innovative20 initiatives and leadership; and21 WHEREAS, Alisha Thomas Searcy is also an entrepreneur who runs her own education22 consulting firm, appears as a frequent speaker and thought leader on education matters across23 many platforms, and contributes regularly to Fox 5 Atlanta's Georgia Gang; and24 WHEREAS, deeply engaged in her community, she further serves on numerous boards,25 including the Joseph and Evelyn Lowery Institute and Georgia Fi rst, and she is a proud26 member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; and27 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this28 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body30 congratulate and commend Alisha Thomas Searcy for receiving the 2025 Yellow Rose Nikki31 T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for her continued success.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Alisha Thomas34 Searcy.35 S.
