25 LC 112 3342 House Resolution 566 By: Representative Reese of the 140th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Congresswoman Lucy McBath; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Congresswoman Lucy McBath has devoted her career to ad vocating for2 bipartisan solutions that address gun violence, support small b usinesses, strengthen the3 economy, protect veterans, and lower healthcare and prescription drug costs; and4 WHEREAS, since taking office in January 2019, she has worked ac ross party lines to5 advance meaningful legislation, earning recognition as an effective lawmaker and a leading6 voice within the House Democratic Caucus; and7 WHEREAS, she played a key role in the Bipartisan Safer Communit ies Act, the first8 comprehensive gun safety legislation in over three decades; championed the HAVEN Act,9 which provides protections for veterans experiencing financial hardship; and supported a bill10 to limit the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare to $35 per month; and11 WHEREAS, her advocacy in Congress has been shaped by her lived experiences, particularly12 her unwavering dedication to preventing other families from end uring the pain of losing a13 loved one to gun violence; and14 H. R. 566 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3342 WHEREAS, Congresswoman McBath has proudly represented metro Atlanta in Georgia's15 Sixth Congressional District, working diligently to uplift and protect the communities she16 serves through meaningful policy and action; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this18 remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately honored.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body recognize and commend Congresswoman Lu cy McBath for her21 efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service as well as extend the most sincere22 best wishes for continued health and happiness.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Congresswoman Lucy McBath.26 H.
