25 LC 112 3244 Senate Resolution 380 By: Senators Parent of the 44th, Anderson of the 43rd, Harrell of the 40th, Mangham of the 55th, Davenport of the 17th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Leisa Powers; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Leisa Powers; and3 WHEREAS, Leisa Powers was a dedicated community leader who work ed tirelessly to4 support and uplift those around her, leaving a lasting impact o n the City of Decatur and5 playing an integral role in the Decatur Education Foundation; and6 WHEREAS, since the foundation's inception, she worked alongside her husband, Tony, a7 founding board member, to ensure its success and growth, helping to create opportunities for8 children in Decatur to thrive; and9 WHEREAS, in addition to her community involvement, she enjoyed a distinguished10 professional career at Cox Enterprises as a senior manager in HR and benefit systems, where11 she was known for her knowledge, leadership, and ability to create a supportive workplace12 where employees could thrive; and13 S. R. 380 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3244 WHEREAS, a proud and loyal resident of Georgia, she was a loving wife to her husband and14 a devoted mother to their two wonderful children, raising her f amily in Decatur and15 remaining deeply involved in the well-being of her community; and16 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern17 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and unders tanding she demonstrated to18 her family and friends were admired by others; and19 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation20 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,21 she made this world a better place in which to live; and22 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Leisa Powers will long be remembered23 for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be m issed by all who had the24 great fortune of knowing her.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26 join in honoring the life and memory of Leisa Powers and expres s their deepest and most27 sincere regret at her passing.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Leisa30 Powers.31 S.
