25 LC 112 3324 House Resolution 584 By: Representatives Lim of the 98th, Beckles of the 96th, Clark of the 108th, McClain of the 109th, and Park of the 107th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 85 Community Development Corporation and Executive1 Director Frank Lee; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the 85 Community Development Corporation (85CDC) was founded in 20223 by Executive Director Frank Lee to serve diverse immigrant communities along Interstate4 85 in northeast metro Atlanta through culturally and linguistic ally appropriate services,5 economic stability programs, and community-driven development initiatives; and6 WHEREAS, Executive Director Frank Lee wields extensive experien ce in community7 planning, transit equity, and federal grant management, previously working with nonprofit8 organizations in Los Angeles' Koreatown and Little Tokyo before returning to Atlanta to9 serve as a municipal planner and later as director of transport ation for a local nonprofit,10 where he led the nation's first multilingual and culturally sensitive micro transit service; and11 WHEREAS, since its founding, 85CDC has played a critical role in supporting immigrant12 communities in metro Atlanta, particularly in Gwinnett County, by prioritizing the hiring and13 training of multicultural, bilingua l staff from within the comm unity to ensure meaningful14 engagement with limited-English-proficient residents; and15 H. R. 584 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3324 WHEREAS, in 2024, 85CDC served 516 clients through its core programs, which included16 social services, legal services navigation, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)17 education, free tax preparation, and small business assistance, significantly contributing to18 the well-being of local residents; and19 WHEREAS, in addition to direct services, 85CDC has strengthened community resilience20 through initiatives such as community cleanups, artist workshops, Occupational Safety and21 Health Administration (OSHA) training, and parent engagement programs; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished organization and civil23 leader be appropriately honored during this special time.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend the 85 Community Development26 Corporation and Executive Director Frank Lee for their dedication to advancing community27 self-determination and equitable growth as well as extend best wishes for continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the30 85 Community Development Corporation and Executive Director Frank Lee.31 H.
