25 LC 112 3334 House Resolution 605 By: Representatives Hugley of the 141st and Kendrick of the 95th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Kornisha McGill Brown for receivi ng the 2025 Yellow1 Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Kornisha McGill Brown has devoted her professional and personal life to10 supporting and advocating for youth and families in her communi ty, drawing on her11 experience as an educator to uplift and empower others; and12 WHEREAS, she holds distinction as the immediate past national president of Jack and Jill13 of America, Incorporated, where she was one of only a few natio nal presidents to serve14 consecutive terms in the organization's 87-year history; and15 H. R. 605 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3334 WHEREAS, her leadership and membership extends to The Links, In corporated; Alpha16 Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; and the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the17 Chattahoochee Valley, Brookstone School, and Emanuel Preparatory School; and18 WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Spelman College with a Bachelor o f Arts in political19 science and the University of Georgia with a Master of Education; and20 WHEREAS, she has been widely recognized for her exemplary service, receiving an official21 commendation from Senator Jon Ossoff for her advocacy on behalf of Georgia's families as22 well as the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and special recognition from the23 Biden-Harris Administration for her dedication to serving children and families; and24 WHEREAS, Kornisha McGill Brown resides in Columbus, Georgia, with her husband, Dr.25 Darius K. Brown Sr., and their children, Jordan Janay Brown and Darius Brown Jr.; and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this27 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body congratulate and commend Kornisha McGill Brown for receiving30 the 2025 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes31 for her continued success.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to34 Kornisha McGill Brown.35 H.
