25 LC 129 0362 Senate Resolution 401 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th, Parent of the 44th, Kemp of the 38th, Anderson of the 43rd and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Clayton County; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, conveniently located just 12 miles outside of Atlanta, Clayton County is the 5th2 most populous county in Georgia; and3 WHEREAS, established in 1858, the county was named for Augustin e Smith Clayton, a4 judge and United States House of Representatives Member; and5 WHEREAS, Clayton County is home to the world's number one busie st airport,6 HartsField-Jackson International Airport; and7 WHEREAS, enhancing the lives of residents, Clayton Parks operates more than 25 parks and8 recreational areas in the county; and9 WHEREAS, Clayton State University offers more than 65 degree pr ograms, and brings a10 multi-national, global, and sophisticated perspective to the area; and11 WHEREAS, Clayton County Public Schools ranks 5th largest school system in the state,12 offering an exemplary education to young Georgians; and13 S. R. 401 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0362 WHEREAS, Clayton County boasts a strong and diversified economy , characterized by14 steady growth, low unemployment, and thriving entertainment industries; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the c ontributions of this16 outstanding region.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 recognize and commend Clayton County.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed20 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the21 press.22 S.
