25 LC 129 0331 House Resolution 615 By: Representatives Herring of the 145th, Jones of the 143rd, Flournoy of the 74th, Paris of the 142nd, and Reese of the 140th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Pastor Wallace B. Herring Sr.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Pastor Wallace B. Herring Sr.; and3 WHEREAS, Pastor Wallace B. Herring Sr. was a beloved son of Bryant and Ruth Herring;4 and5 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans as a paratrooper7 during the Vietnam War; and 8 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Pastor Wallace B. Her ring Sr. served as the9 Senior Pastor of Glorious Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia for 16 years;10 and11 WHEREAS, he loved his community and served as a Tubman Torchbea rer, a fundraising12 arm of the Tubman African American Museum, a 20-year coach of Macon Little League, and13 as a mentor for hundreds of young people across Middle Georgia; and14 H. R. 615 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0331 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Lena, and was blessed with four15 remarkable children, Wallace Jr., Lisa, John, and Moses; and16 WHEREAS, Pastor Wallace B. Herring Sr. gave inspiration to many through his high ideals,17 morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devot ion, patience, and18 understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and19 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation20 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he21 made this world a better place in which to live; and22 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man who demonstrated his commitment to23 witnessing Christ through word and deed, Pastor Wallace B. Herring Sr. will long be24 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who25 had the great fortune of knowing him.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Pastor Wallace B. Herring28 Sr. and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31 family of Pastor Wallace B.
