25 LC 112 3396 House Resolution 612 By: Representatives Scott of the 76th, Davis of the 87th, and Schofield of the 63rd A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Kenneth K. Mickens; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Kenneth K. Mickens; and3 WHEREAS, Kenneth K. Mickens was born on April 3, 1955, in Havana, Florida, a beloved4 son of Arthur Mickens Sr. and Ella Mae Harrison-Mickens; and5 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and7 WHEREAS, Mr. Mickens began a career at the Tallahassee FCI as a correctional officer and8 later followed his passion on becoming an entrepreneur, creatin g fashion shows, the9 Commonwealth Tax Services, X-Men Builder and Associates, and the Frankie and Johnny10 clothing store; and11 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Mickens was an active member of New12 Mt. Zion AME Church; and13 H. R. 612 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3396 WHEREAS, he was blessed with three remarkable children, Christo pher, Brandon, and14 Patrice; with two wonderful grandchildren, Bryan and Braylen; and by his former wife, best15 friend, and mother of his children, Patricia Ann Lofton-Mickens; and16 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern17 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his18 family and friends were admired by others; and19 WHEREAS, he possessed the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the20 strength of character which is achieved by overcoming the many challenges of life; and21 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Kenneth K. Mickens w ill long be22 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who23 had the great fortune of knowing him.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Kenneth K. Mickens and26 express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 family of Kenneth K.
