25 LC 112 3422 House Resolution 665 By: Representatives Burnough of the 77th, Buckner of the 137th, Griffin of the 149th, Scott of the 76th, and Hugley of the 141st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Georgia Association of Senior Ce nters in honor of1 National Senior Center Month; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, September is recognized as National Senior Center Month, a time to celebrate3 the invaluable contributions of senior centers in enhancing the lives of older adults; and4 WHEREAS, the Georgia Association of Senior Centers (GASC) was founded to bring senior5 center professionals together from across Georgia's rural, urban, and suburban communities6 to strengthen the operations, programming, and leadership of senior centers statewide; and7 WHEREAS, GASC is committed to supporting senior center administ rators, managers,8 programmers, and professionals in their mission to enhance the well-being and quality of life9 for Georgia's older adults by fostering collaboration, professi onal development, and10 advocacy; and11 WHEREAS, GASC is establishing itself as a guiding force for senior centers by providing12 leadership, resources, and support to ensure that Georgia's senior centers remain vibrant and13 accessible hubs for health, wellness, education, and social engagement; and14 H. R. 665 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3422 WHEREAS, the founding board of GASC has demonstrated extraordinary vision, leadership,15 and dedication in forming the organization and laying the found ation for its continued16 success, with the founding board members including Tori Strawte r-Tanks, President and17 Founder; Konswella Gilchrist, Vice President; Tammy Le, Secreta ry; Adrianne Jones,18 Treasurer; Katie Howard, Board Member; and Shawn Taylor, Board Member; and19 WHEREAS, the members of this distinguished board bring a wealth of experience and a20 shared commitment to the advancement of Georgia's senior centers, ensuring they serve as21 beacons of excellence for older adults and their communities; and22 WHEREAS, the establishment of GASC marks a significant milestone in Georgia's efforts23 to strengthen senior services, providing a statewide network th at fosters innovation, best24 practices, and advocacy to support the aging population; and25 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the outstanding contribu tions of GASC and its26 founding board be recognized and celebrated in honor of National Senior Center Month for27 their work in elevating the quality and sustainability of senior centers across Georgia.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body commend the Georgia Association of Sen ior Centers for its30 exemplary service, leadership, and commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults31 throughout the state and recognize the dedication of its foundi ng board members in32 establishing this vital organization.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the35 Georgia Association of Senior Centers.36 H.
