A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend an Act providing for the compensation of certain county officers and officials of1
DeKalb County, approved March 31, 1976 (Ga. L. 1976, p. 3986), as amended, so as to2
revise the compensation of certain judges, judicial officers, a nd county officers; to make3
conforming changes related to court names changed by general law; to provide for related4
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
SECTION 1.7
An Act providing for the compensation of certain county officer s and officials of DeKalb8
County, approved March 31, 1976 (Ga. L. 1976, p. 3986), as amen ded, is amended by9
revising Section 1 as follows:10
"SECTION 1.11
As used in this Act, the term 'gross salary' shall mean the hig her of $218,990.30 or the12
highest annual salary provided to any Superior Court judge from State funds."13
SECTION 2.14
Said Act is further amended by adding a new section to read as follows:15

"SECTION 1.2.16
Pursuant to Section 1 of an Act to amend Article 1 of Chapter 6 of Title 15 of the17
O.C.G.A., relating to general provisions regarding superior courts, approved May 6, 202418
(Ga. L. 2024, p. 738), as of January 1, 2025, the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit shall be19
known and may be referred to as the DeKalb Judicial Circuit. A ny reference in this Act20
to the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit shall be deemed to refer to the DeKalb Judicial21
Circuit."22
SECTION 3.23
Said Act is further amended by revising Sections 2 and 2.1 as follows:24
"SECTION 2.25
Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, the annual salary of each of26
the officials of DeKalb County listed below shall be the following percentages of the gross27
salary as defined in Section 1:28
(1) Chief Executive Officer......................................................................................100% 29
(2) District Attorney................................................................................................100% 30
(3) Sheriff.................................................................................................................100% 31
(4) Clerk of the Superior Court.................................................................................80% 32
(5) Tax Commissioner...............................................................................................75% 33
(6) Members of the Board of Commissioners..............................................................32% 34
SECTION 2.1.35
Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, the annual salary of each judge36
of the State Court of DeKalb County, the Chief Magistrate of DeKalb County, the judge of37
the Probate Court of DeKalb County, each judge of the Juvenile Court of DeKalb County,38
and the Solicitor-General of DeKalb County shall be the higher of $208,040.00 or 90 percent39
of the gross salary as defined in Section 1 of this Act."40

SECTION 4.41
Said Act is further amended by revising Sections 3 and 3.1 as follows:42
"SECTION 3.43
(a) Each full-time associate magistrate of DeKalb County shall receive an annual salary44
equal to 90 percent of the annual salary provided in this Act paid to the Chief Magistrate45
of DeKalb County.46
(b) Each part-time associate magistrate of DeKalb County shall be paid an hourly rate47
commensurate with the annual salary provided in this Act paid t o a full-time associate48
magistrate of DeKalb County.49
SECTION 3.1.50
The annual salaries provided in this Act shall be paid in equal monthly installments from51
funds of DeKalb County."52
SECTION 5.53
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.54
