25 LC 112 3477 House Resolution 692 By: Representatives Huddleston of the 72nd, Gambill of the 15th, Scoggins of the 14th, Smith of the 18th, and Howard of the 71st A RESOLUTION Honoring the lives and legacy of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, and Amber Nelon Kistler1 of The Nelons and commending Autumn Nelon Streetman; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, The Nelons, a renowned Southern Gospel group originating from Georgia, have3 captivated audiences since their founding in 1977 by Rex Nelon as The Rex Nelon Singers,4 later becoming known simply as The Nelons; and5 WHEREAS, over their decades-long career, The Nelons have released more than 35 albums,6 achieved more than 20 Top 5 Southern Gospel radio singles, and inspired countless listeners7 through their harmonious blend of Gospel, a capella, hymns, Ame ricana, folk, and8 inspirational music; and9 WHEREAS, their contributions to Gospel music were formally reco gnized upon their10 induction into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016, cementing their legacy11 as one of the genre's most influential groups; and12 WHEREAS, on July 26, 2024, the Gospel music community suffered an immeasurable loss13 when three beloved members of The Nelons—Kelly Nelon Clark; her husband, Jason Clark;14 H. R. 692 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3477 and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler—tragically lost their l ives in a plane crash while15 traveling to perform on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska; and16 WHEREAS, Autumn Nelon Streetman, the surviving member of the fa mily group, has17 demonstrated extraordinary resilience in the face of this profound loss, carrying forward her18 family's musical heritage with strength and dedication; and19 WHEREAS, in August 2024, she released the album Loving You, which was completed20 shortly before the tragedy and was later nominated for Best Roots Gospel Album at the 202521 Grammy Awards; and22 WHEREAS, Autumn Nelon Streetman remains committed to honoring her family's legacy23 and ensuring that The Nelons' message of faith, hope, and love continues to uplift audiences24 for generations to come.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body honor the lives and legacy of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, and27 Amber Nelon Kistler of The Nelons; commend Autumn Nelon Streetman for her immense28 resilience and strength; and extend the deepest and most sincere condolences.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 Autumn Nelon Streetman.32 H.
