25 LC 112 3270 Senate Resolution 446 By: Senators Gooch of the 51st, Payne of the 54th, Setzler of the 37th, Echols of the 49th, Wicks of the 34th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the exceptional service and sacrifices of veterans and recognizing November 20251 as Veterans Month; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, marks the end of World War3 I and the signing of the Armistice agreement between Germany and the Allies on November4 11, 1918, at 11:00 AM; and5 WHEREAS, in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower renamed Armistice Day as Veterans6 Day to honor all veterans of the United States; and7 WHEREAS, veterans have made immeasurable contributions toward t he defense of this8 nation, as brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines have risked their lives to protect the9 freedoms that all Americans hold dear; and10 WHEREAS, in addition to physical injuries, many veterans experi ence psychological and11 emotional trauma that requires ongoing care and support; and12 S. R. 446 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3270 WHEREAS, while veterans are formally honored on Veterans Day, d edicating the entire13 month of November to their recognition will increase awareness of the hardships veterans14 endure both during and after combat; and15 WHEREAS, the observance of Veterans Month will provide an opportunity to show respect,16 gratitude, and dedication to our veterans.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 honor the exceptional service and sacrifices of veterans, recog nize November 2025 as19 Veterans Month, and encourage all Georgians to engage in celebr atory activities and20 programs aimed at recognizing and supporting veterans.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public, veterans23 organizations, and the press.24 S.
