25 LC 112 3457 House Resolution 736 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Scott of the 76th, Burnough of the 77th, Douglas of the 78th, and Neal of the 79th A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 26, 2025, as Clayton County Day; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, conveniently located just 12 miles outside of Atlanta, Clayton County is the 5th2 most populous county in Georgia; and3 WHEREAS, established in 1858, the county was named for Augustin e Smith Clayton, a4 judge and United States House of Representatives Member; and5 WHEREAS, Clayton County is home to the world's number one busie st airport,6 HartsField-Jackson International Airport; and7 WHEREAS, enhancing the lives of residents, Clayton Parks operates more than 25 parks and8 recreational areas in the county; and9 WHEREAS, Clayton State University offers more than 65 degree pr ograms, and brings a10 multi-national, global, and sophisticated perspective to the area; and11 WHEREAS, Clayton County Public Schools ranks 5th largest school system in the state,12 offering an exemplary education to young Georgians; and13 H. R. 736 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3457 WHEREAS, Clayton County boasts a strong and diversified economy , characterized by14 steady growth, low unemployment, and thriving entertainment industries; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the c ontributions of this16 outstanding region.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize March 26, 2025, as Clayton County Day.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the21 public and the press.22 H.
