25 LC 112 3518 House Resolution 716 By: Representatives Williams of the 168th, DeLoach of the 167th, and Cannon of the 172nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Joseph "Joey" Brown on his outstanding public service; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, appointed as county administrator in 1992 by the Liber ty County Board of3 Commissioners, Joseph "Joey" Brown has served the citizens of L iberty County for over4 three decades, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring th e consistent delivery of5 essential services to residents; and6 WHEREAS, throughout his distinguishe d tenure, he has managed th e preparation,7 monitoring, and execution of the county budget; directed departmental operations and capital8 projects; handled public relations; and served as a county liai son to regional, state, and9 federal agencies as well as local governments within and outside Liberty County; and10 WHEREAS, under his leadership, Liberty County has completed num erous major11 construction projects, including the planning and construction of the Midcoast Regional12 Airport, the new Justice Center, and the Live Oak Library-Hinesville Branch; and13 WHEREAS, his additional accomplishments include the acquisition and renovation of the14 Liberty County Community Complex, the renovation of the Histori c Liberty County15 H. R. 716 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3518 Courthouse and the County Annex Building, and the construction of new facilities such as16 the Public Works Facility, the Animal Control Building, the Lib erty County Health17 Department, and more; and18 WHEREAS, Joseph "Joey" Brown has further contributed to the dev elopment of local19 recreation through facilities such as James Brown Park, Gill Park, the Recreation Department20 Headquarters, the Samuel B. Harris Gymnasium, the Charles Shuman Gym, and numerous21 other park improvement projects; and22 WHEREAS, his work led to the establishment of Liberty County's first integrated 911 system23 and its first full-time fire department, both of which have significantly improved emergency24 response capabilities for the community; and25 WHEREAS, Joseph "Joey" Brown has served the residents of Liberty County with honor and26 distinction, and his vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed27 upon the occasion of his retirement.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body recognize and commend Joseph "Joey" Brown for his 43 years of30 efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to Liberty County; congratulate31 him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for32 continued health and happiness.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to35 Joseph "Joey" Brown.36 H.
