A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Carlene Anderson; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Carlene Anderson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to education,2
civic engagement, and student empowerment through her decades of service as an educator,3
mentor, and community advocate; and4
WHEREAS, she began her exemplary career as an educator in 2002 through the teacher5
training program at William Paterson University and joined the Paterson Public School6
System, where she incorporated her social work background into her teaching practice to7
promote innovation and digital citizenship at the elementary level; and8
WHEREAS, her efforts earned her multiple grants from the Perloff Family Foundation and9
the Garden State Partnership for Teacher Quality as well as nat ional recognition through10
features on NJEA's Classroom Closeup-NJ and One-on-One with Steve Adubato; and11
WHEREAS, she presented her projects at prominent conferences such as the International12
Society for Technology in Education, the Society for Information Technology and Teacher13
Education, and the National Association of Professional Development Schools; and14

WHEREAS, after relocating to Georgia in 2014, she joined Gwinnett County Public Schools15
and served as a teacher of exceptional learners with the Georgia Network for Educational and16
Therapeutic Support North Metro Program, where her students won awards at the GCPS17
Media Festival for digital storytelling projects; and18
WHEREAS, following injuries in 2019 that required her to leave the classroom, she19
continued her advocacy work as president of the local units of her son's Parent Teacher20
Student Associations, where she now champions student mental he alth, school safety,21
education equity, access to nutrition, and grassroots civic action; and22
WHEREAS, Carlene Anderson is a breast cancer survivor who endur ed surgery,23
chemotherapy, and radiation from July 2023 to January 2024, emerging stronger and more24
determined than ever to continue making an impact through faith, resilience, and service.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
the members of this body recognize and commend Carlene Anderson f o r h e r m a n y27
outstanding contributions on behalf of the youth of this state and beyond as well as extend28
best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31
Carlene Anderson.32
