25 LC 129 0292 House Resolution 829 By: Representatives Martin of the 49th, Jones of the 47th, Cox of the 28th, Hilton of the 48th, and Reeves of the 99th A RESOLUTION Commending Joseph Williams of Alpharetta High School for winning the 2024 GHSA 6A1 Individual Track and Field State Championship in the 110m hurdles; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Joseph Williams, a junior at Alpharetta High School, maintained the school's3 proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and4 WHEREAS, this superlative athlete has completed a triumphant season of track competition5 that included several prestigious invitationals and meets; and6 WHEREAS, excellent skill, superior fitness, and extraordinary r esilience made Joseph7 Williams a spectacular runner to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to his8 remarkable 2024 campaign, Joseph Williams captured the state championship in the 110m9 hurdles with a time of 14.11 seconds, becoming the first state champion in the 110m hurdles10 in school history, and11 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of Joseph Williams is a cle ar indication of his12 outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and his fi ghting spirit; his superb13 discipline and commitment to track; and the astute direction of Head Coach AJ Merine; and14 H. R. 829 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0292 WHEREAS, as this outstanding athlete earned his well-deserved reputation for excellence15 by performing with confidence, grit, and precision over months of training, conditioning, and16 competition, it is abundantly proper to call him a champion.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body commend Joseph Williams of Alpharetta High School for winning19 the 2024 GHSA 6A Individual Track and Field State Championship in the 110m hurdles and20 extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to23 Joseph Williams.24 H.
