25 LC 129 0410 House Resolution 839 By: Representatives Crowe of the 118th, Kahaian of the 81st, Holly of the 116th, Santos of the 117th, Lewis-Ward of the 115th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mark Amerman upon his retirement; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Mark Amerman has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the2 vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare3 of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,5 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced6 dramatically by his superlative service with the Henry County Police Department; and7 WHEREAS, Mark has enjoyed a successful career in law enforcement, which began in the8 military, serving six years with the United States Army Militar y Police Corps before9 beginning his career in 1994 with the Henry County Police Department; and10 WHEREAS, in 2018, he was elected as Police Chief, a position he would hold until his11 appointment to Director of Public Safety, in September of 2023; and 12 WHEREAS, until his retirement, he oversaw all Public Safety ope rations for the Henry13 County Police Department, Fire-Rescue Department, Emergency 911 Department,14 H. R. 839 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0410 Emergency Management and Homeland Security Department, Animal Control, Community15 Service, and Code Enforcement; and 16 WHEREAS, he also served the st ate when was appointed by the Gov ernor of the State of17 Georgia to sit on the POST Council, the governing authority over police officer certifications18 of the state; and19 WHEREAS, Mark's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience20 and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state21 have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and22 WHEREAS, this spirited law enforcement professional has exhibited extraordinary devotion23 to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all of his24 duties; and25 WHEREAS, he has served with honor and distinction with the Henr y County Police26 Department, and his vision and unyielding commitment to the com munity will be sorely27 missed upon the occasion of his retirement.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body recognize and commend Mark Amerman for h i s e f f i c i e n t ,30 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him31 upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for32 continued health and happiness.33 H.
