25 LC 112 3549 House Resolution 779 By: Representatives Reeves of the 99th, Beckles of the 96th, Romman of the 97th, Hong of the 103rd, and Efstration of the 104th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Aligarh Alumni Association of At lanta; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, established in 1984, the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta (AAAA) is a3 dedicated nonprofit organization composed of graduates of Aliga rh Muslim University4 (AMU), India, and supporters of the Aligarh educational movement; and5 WHEREAS, AAAA has played a crucial role in supporting education by providing6 assistance to students through various programs, such as the Sir Syed Global Scholars Award7 (SGSA), the Direct Early Intervention Center at AMU (DEIC), and the Indo-US APJ Abdul8 Kalam Center for STEM Education & Research of OSU-AMU, reflecti ng its commitment9 to academic and financial support for deserving students; and10 WHEREAS, AAAA is also deeply involved in community engagement, contributing to the11 well-being of the greater Atlanta community through collaborati ve efforts, social issue12 dialogues, and promoting interfaith understanding; and13 WHEREAS, since 2022, AAAA has hosted annual Eid Milan Picnics, becoming a cherished14 tradition in the Atlanta area, fostering cultural connection and providing an opportunity for15 H. R. 779 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3549 thousands of community members to gather and celebrate Eid toge ther in a festive,16 family-friendly environment; and17 WHEREAS, AAAA has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the Urdu language18 and its art forms through the Jashn-e-Urdu Festival, which has featured renowned literary19 figures like poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar, showcasing poetic performances, literary20 discussions, and fostering a greater appreciation for the richness of Urdu culture; and21 WHEREAS, the contributions of AAAA to education, community engagement, and cultural22 preservation have had a lasting and meaningful impact on the people of Georgia and beyond.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and commend the Aligarh Alum ni Association of25 Atlanta for its outstanding efforts in advancing education, sup porting the community, and26 preserving cultural heritage.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta.30 H.
