25 LC 112 3529 House Resolution 844 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Willis of the 55th, McQueen of the 61st, Berry of the 56th, and Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Pastor Troy for his outstanding cont ributions to Atlanta's1 musical sound, culture, and his lasting impact on the global mu sic industry; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, Micah LeVar Troy, known professionally as Pastor Troy, is a trailblazing4 rapper, songwriter, and producer whose influence on Atlanta's h ip-hop scene has been5 instrumental in shaping the crunk movement and the Southern rap genre; and6 WHEREAS, born and raised in College Park, Georgia, Pastor Troy rose to prominence in the7 late 1990s with his electrifying energy, hard-hitting lyrics, and a commanding presence that8 set him apart as a leader in the hip-hop community; and9 WHEREAS, his debut album, We Ready (I Declare War), featuring the anthem "No Mo Play10 in GA," became a rallying cry for Southern hip-hop and solidifi ed his place as one of the11 defining voices of Atlanta's rap movement; and12 WHEREAS, Pastor Troy played a pivotal role in the expansion and popularization of crunk13 music, collaborating with industry heavyweights such as Lil Jon , Three 6 Mafia, and14 Ludacris, further cementing Atlanta's dominance in the hip-hop world; and15 H. R. 844 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3529 WHEREAS, throughout his career, he has remained an independent force in the industry,16 consistently releasing music that resonates with his dedicated fanbase and inspiring countless17 artists to maintain creative control over their work; and18 WHEREAS, Pastor Troy's music embodies the raw, unfiltered energ y of Atlanta's streets,19 blending intensity, passion, and lyrical dexterity to create timeless anthems that continue to20 influence new generations of artists; and21 WHEREAS, beyond his contributions to music, Pastor Troy has been a symbol of resilience,22 entrepreneurship, and authenticity, representing the values that have made Atlanta a cultural23 hub for artistic innovation; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this body rec ognize the exceptional25 achievements of Pastor Troy and extend gratitude for his contributions to Georgia's musical26 legacy and the global hip-hop culture.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body recognize and commend Pastor Troy for his outstanding29 contributions to music and culture and express their sincere ap preciation for his lasting30 influence on the State of Georgia and beyond.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Pastor33 Troy.34 H.
