25 LC 129 0378 House Resolution 797 By: Representative Jackson of the 128th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Janice Reed; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, at the early age of 10 years old, Janice Reed began to produce and promote2 entertainment such as festivals, carnivals, and other community events in Chicago; and3 WHEREAS, upon moving to Atlanta in 1975, Ms. Reed began produci ng entertainment4 events for the late Reverend Hosea L. Williams of Hosea Feed th e Hungry and Homeless,5 a dedicated musical pursuit she continues to this day; and6 WHEREAS, additionally, she provides family oriented, specialty acts such as magicians,7 clowns, face painters, stilt walkers, dance and mime teams as w ell as choirs, orchestras,8 comedians, and drum teams throughout the state; and9 WHEREAS, Ms. Reed is also the co-founder of the Sweet Auburn Festival, which began in10 1982, and a dedicated community activist; and11 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for12 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and13 H. R. 797 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0378 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this14 remarkable and distinguished woman be appropriately recognized.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that16 the members of this body recognize and commend Janice Reed for her outstanding17 contributions to the musical, cultural, and social landscape f the State of Geogia.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Janice20 Reed.21 H.
