25 LC 112 3490 Senate Resolution 477 By: Senators Echols of the 49th, Hatchett of the 50th, Gooch of the 51st, Dixon of the 45th and Ginn of the 47th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Carol H. Burrell; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Carol H. Burrell has served as president and chief executive officer of Northeast2 Georgia Health System (NGHS) since 2011, leading the health sys tem through an era of3 unparalleled success and growth; and4 WHEREAS, under her leadership, NGHS has grown from a one-hospital system with a few5 employed physician practices and satellite outpatient locations to one of the largest and most6 well-respected organizations in the state, with an economic impact of nearly $7.5 billion each7 year; and8 WHEREAS, she currently leads more than 12,000 employees across numerous health care9 institutions, including the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, t he Northeast Georgia10 Physicians Group, the Georgia Heart Institute, and Graduate Medical Education as well as11 dozens of medical office buildings, urgent care centers, imagin g centers, long term care12 facilities, and rehabilitation clinics; and13 WHEREAS, her dedication and commitment to excellence has been acknowledged by the14 many recognitions she has received, such as being named Georgia 's Most Respected15 S. R. 477 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3490 Business leader by Georgia Trend magazine as well as appearing on the list of the 100 Most16 Influential Georgians for 12 years in a row; and17 WHEREAS, as further testament to her exemplary service, Carol Burrell is a past board chair18 for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and is active in the G ainesville Rotary, the19 United Way, the Georgia Hospital Association, the American Coll ege of Healthcare20 Executives, and Vizient MidSouth; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstandi ng contributions of this22 extraordinary Georgian be recognized. 23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 recognize and commend Carol H. Burrell for her years of dedicated, effective, and efficient25 service as well as extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success. 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Carol H.
