25 LC 129 0433 House Resolution 819 By: Representative Meeks of the 178th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr., on March 23, 2025; and3 WHEREAS, Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr., was born on October 6, 1921, i n Pierce County,4 Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6 States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans aboard the U.S.S.7 Intrepid during World War II; and 8 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr., was a life-long member9 of Beulah Baptist Church; and10 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Janell, and was blessed with six11 remarkable children, Jay, Jerry, June, Joy, Dick, and Jane; nin e wonderful grandchildren,12 Dawn, Starr, Shelley, Lloye, Cassie, Lance, Danielle, Heather, J.C., and Jena; and several13 great grandchildren; and14 H. R. 819 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0433 WHEREAS, Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr., farmed most of his life only “ retiring” to start a huge15 pecan orchard which he cared for until his passing; and 16 WHEREAS, he received the Farmer of the Year award in 1974 and w as a member of the17 Farm Bureau as well as the National Farmers Organization, the Forestry Commission, and18 the Michigan Blueberry Association; and19 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern20 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his21 family and friends were admired by others; and22 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he24 made this world a better place in which to live; and25 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Jacob Lloye Davis, J r., will long be26 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who27 had the great fortune of knowing him.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr., and30 express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the33 family of Jacob Lloye Davis, Jr.34 H.
