25 LC 112 3505 House Resolution 781 By: Representatives Martin of the 49th, Washburn of the 144th, Rice of the 139th, Williams of the 148th, Herring of the 145th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce has demonstrated exemplary le adership and2 commitment in her second year as director of the Georgia Legisl ative Internship Program3 (GLIP), coordinating with colleges and universities across the State of Georgia to recruit and4 ready student interns for service at the state capitol; and5 WHEREAS, in this role, Dr. Kerce plays a vital part in the inte rn selection process by6 assisting with applications and interviews, and her tireless support to Ali Martin and Stacy7 Peery has been instrumental in preparing interns for the demands of their positions; and8 WHEREAS, in addition to her statewide responsibilities, she is also serving her second year9 as Georgia State University's GLIP director and college coordin ator, where she holds10 information sessions, guides students through the application process, and maintains close11 collaboration with the Governmental Affairs Office; and12 WHEREAS, Dr. Kerce leads the initial training session for Georgia State University GLIP13 interns and serves as the professor for the program's two acade mic courses, Legislative14 H. R. 781 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3505 Internships and Directed Reading Research, providing academic s tructure and support15 throughout their legislative experience; and16 WHEREAS, since 2017, Dr. Kerce has served as a professor in the Department of Political17 Science at Georgia State University, specializing in public law with a focus on judicial18 politics, American political institutions, and the separation of powers; and19 WHEREAS, her dedication to academic excellence and student deve lopment has had a20 lasting impact on the success of the Georgia Legislative Internship Program and the students21 of Georgia State University; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplar y individual be23 appropriately honored during this special time.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Stephanie De an Kerce for her26 outstanding leadership, academic service, and contributions to the Georgia Legislative27 Internship Program as well as extend best wishes for continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.30 Stephanie Dean Kerce.31 H.
