25 LC 112 3484 House Resolution 792 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Willis of the 55th, Berry of the 56th, McQueen of the 61st, and Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Recognizing April 4, 2025, as 404 Day; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the vibrant community of Bankhead, located on the West side of Atlanta, has2 played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural, musical, and art istic identity of the city and3 beyond; and4 WHEREAS, Bankhead has been a foundational force in the evolutio n of Atlanta's music5 scene, particularly in hip-hop, giving rise to legendary artist s, producers, and cultural6 movements that have left an indelible mark on the global entertainment industry; and7 WHEREAS, the sounds, stories, and struggles of Bankhead have been immortalized through8 music and media, serving as a beacon of resilience, creativity, and community pride for9 generations of Atlantans, particularly within the Black community; and10 WHEREAS, Bankhead's cultural influence extends beyond its immed iate community,11 shaping the identity of Atlanta's northwest and southwest areas , inspiring generations of12 artists, entrepreneurs, and activists who continue to elevate Atlanta's status as a global leader13 in Black culture, music, and innovation; and14 H. R. 792 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3484 WHEREAS, beyond music, Bankhead has significantly influenced fashion, dance, language,15 and activism, making it a cornerstone of Atlanta's cultural identity and a driving force behind16 the city's national and international reputation as a hub for Black excellence; and17 WHEREAS, April 4, widely recognized as "404 Day" in honor of Atlanta's area code, serves18 as a moment to celebrate the city's unique contributions to arts, business, and culture, with19 Bankhead standing as a crucial pillar in this legacy; and20 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to acknowledge and uplift the contributions of Bankhead21 to the broader Atlanta community, ensuring that its impact cont inues to be recognized,22 preserved, and celebrated across the northwest and southwest areas of the city.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize April 4, 2025, as 404 Day in honor of Bankhead's rich25 cultural contributions to Atlanta, including the Westside communities, as well as the State26 of Georgia and beyond.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the29 public and the press.30 H.
