25 LC 112 3559 House Resolution 852 By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th, Dawson of the 65th, and Bennett of the 94th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong is widely recognized as a visionary titan of business,2 global philanthropist extraordinaire, and trailblazing industrial pioneer whose transformative3 entrepreneurship and bold leadership have made a great impact on Ghana and beyond; and4 WHEREAS, rising from humble beginnings, Dr. Sarpong launched hi s entrepreneurial5 journey in the 1990s with the founding of Sarpong Ventures Ltd. , quickly establishing a6 reputation for strategic brilliance and business acumen across the Central District of Accra7 through his success in the import and trading sector; and8 WHEREAS, he currently stands at the helm of the Special Group o f Companies,9 commanding a net worth of $600 million and serving as a beacon of determination,10 resilience, and success in the global business landscape; and11 WHEREAS, Dr. Sarpong's strategic leadership extends to his role as Board Chairman of Best12 Point Savings and Loans Co. Ltd., where he has guided the insti tution in empowering13 individuals and enterprises through financial inclusion and economic stability; and14 H. R. 852 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3559 WHEREAS, his entrepreneurial vision also encompasses U2 Salt Ltd., a 600-acre salt mining15 and refinery operation in Winneba, Central Region, demonstratin g his commitment to16 industrial diversification and Ghana's economic development; and17 WHEREAS, in recognition of his enduring impact, Dr. Sarpong was awarded an honorary18 Doctorate Degree of Philosophy in Law from Barkley University a nd was named an19 Honorary Ambassador of Business Entrepreneur in West Africa by the Peristrofi World20 Honorary International Award Conference; and21 WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Sarpong has earned numerous accolades and22 appointments, inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs and strengthenin g communities across23 generations through his steadfast dedication and visionary leadership; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le individual be25 appropriately honored during this special time.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong for his28 outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship, philanthropy, an d national development as29 well as extend sincere best wishes for continued success.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.32 Ernest Ofori Sarpong.33 H.
