25 LC 112 3573 House Resolution 890 By: Representatives Holcomb of the 101st, Miller of the 62nd, and Evans of the 57th A RESOLUTION Commending Hope Atlanta on 125 years of service to metro Atlanta; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta was founded in 1900 as Travelers Aid Atlanta to assist vulnerable2 individuals arriving in the city and to provide essential guidance, shelter, and reunification3 services; and4 WHEREAS, Travelers Aid Atlanta was renamed Hope Atlanta in 2009 , and it has served5 hundreds of thousands of people since its founding; and6 WHEREAS, throughout its 125-year history, Hope Atlanta has evolved to meet the needs of7 metro Atlanta's most vulnerable populations, including veterans, families, and individuals8 experiencing homelessness; and9 WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta provided support to service members and t heir families during10 World War I and World War II; and11 WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta has been a leader in disaster relief, off ering critical aid to12 displaced individuals following significant events such as Hurr icane Katrina, the 199613 Olympic Games, and the COVID-19 pandemic; and14 H. R. 890 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3573 WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta has expanded its impact by merging hunger relief with housing15 solutions, integrating mental health services, and championing long-term stability for those16 in crisis; and17 WHEREAS, during Hope Atlanta's distinguished history, the organization has changed lives18 by assisting people in our community with finding permanent hou sing, reuniting families,19 and helping individuals avoid evictions; and20 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le organization be21 appropriately honored during this special time.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body commend Hope Atlanta's unwavering comm itment to dignity,24 stability, and opportunity for all; celebrate its enduring mission to end homelessness in our25 community; and extend the most sincere congratulations upon the grand occasion of its 125th26 anniversary.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Hope29 Atlanta.30 H.
