25 LC 112 3615 House Resolution 901 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Willis of the 55th, Myles of the 126th, Crawford of the 89th, Bennett of the 94th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending AJ Calloway; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, AJ Calloway is a disti nguished journalist, cultural in fluencer, and media2 professional renowned for his compelling interviews with global humanitarians, political3 figures, and entertainment icons; and4 WHEREAS, he first gained national recognition as the original co-host of 106 & Park: BET's5 Top Ten Live, a groundbreaking music countdown show that became a cultural phenomenon6 and the highest-rated program on BET, shaping a generation of m usic and entertainment7 enthusiasts; and8 WHEREAS, following his success at BET, AJ Calloway transitioned to EXTRA, a nationally9 syndicated entertainment news program, where he served as co-ho st for 15 years, earning10 critical acclaim and contributing to the show's Daytime Emmy Aw ards for Outstanding11 Entertainment News Program in 2014 and 2016; and12 WHEREAS, AJ Calloway currently serves as CEO of Collective Prof essional Resource13 Group, a consulting firm specializing in marketing, strategic p artnerships, brand14 development, and event production, as well as leader of Off the Plantation Productions Inc.,15 H. R. 901 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3615 a production company dedicated to amplifying untold, dynamic st ories of African16 Americans; and17 WHEREAS, a proud alumnus of Howard University, AJ Calloway is dedicated to education18 and mentorship, serving on the Dean's Advisory Board at Rutgers New Jersey Medical19 School and as Vice-Chairman of the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Foundat ion, which empowers20 underserved youth; and21 WHEREAS, he is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness , serving on the board22 of Silence the Shame Inc., and has furthered education by teaching Howard University's first23 graduate-level course on hip-hop culture and public history pro bono; and24 WHEREAS, AJ Calloway's lifelong commitment to service is reflected in his affiliations as25 a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., a Prince Hall M ason at W.C. Thomas26 Lodge No. 112, and an active member of 100 Black Men of America Inc.; and27 WHEREAS, above all his professional and civic achievements, AJ Calloway cherishes his28 role as a devoted husband and father of three, finding his greatest joy in faith and family; and29 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that AJ Calloway's outstandin g career, dedication to30 community service, and commitment to uplifting others be recognized and honored.31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32 the members of this body commend AJ Calloway for his exceptional contributions to media,33 education, and community empowerment as well as extend best wis hes for his continued34 success.35 H.
