A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 29 to April 5, 2025, as Georgia Community-Based Doula Week; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, community-based doulas provide continuous support to mothers during labor3
and delivery, helping them cope with the physical and mental demands of giving birth; and4
WHEREAS, drawing on their specialized training and lived experi ence to guide birthing5
persons through labor and delivery, community-based doulas provide emotional support and6
physical comfort that enhance the childbirth experience for the entire family; and7
WHEREAS, community-based doulas have a commonality with the birthing person, which8
improves outcomes for underserved communities; and9
WHEREAS, community-based doulas work with medical staff, including doctors, midwives,10
and nurses, to provide informational support to all birthing people they serve and help with11
their transition to parenthood; and12
WHEREAS, community-based doulas remove barriers to care by meeting families prenatally13
and postpartum in the home as well as work to address maternal health disparities; and14

WHEREAS, doulas across Georgia help create positive childbirth experiences and work15
toward improved birth and infant health outcomes.16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17
the members of this body recognize March 29 to April 5, 2025, a s Georgia18
Community-Based Doula Week.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the21
public and the press.22
