25 LC 112 3636 House Resolution 906 By: Representatives Henderson of the 113th, Lupton of the 83rd, and Gilliard of the 162nd A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Burnelle Henderson; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Burnelle Henderson was born on January 25, 1930, in Me cklenburg County,2 Virginia, a beloved daughter of Jack and Jugurtha Carrington; and3 WHEREAS, Burnelle Henderson was educated in the Mecklenburg Sch ool System and4 graduated from West End High School on June 7, 1949, becoming the first and only among5 her siblings to complete high school; and6 WHEREAS, after receiving her nursing certificate, she cared for the elderly and babies in7 Virginia and Washington, D.C., area hospitals before working at the Western Electric8 Telephone Company in Arlington, retiring at the age of 55; and9 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Burnelle Henderson was a devoted member10 of Cedar Grove, faithfully supporting the church with her tithes for over 50 years regardless11 of the distance or other congregations she attended; and12 H. R. 906 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3636 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage for 68 years to he r husband, Victor, and13 they were blessed with four remarkable children, including two wonderful sons and two14 beloved daughters; and15 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern16 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and unders tanding she demonstrated to17 her family and friends were admired by others; and18 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation19 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,20 she made this world a better place in which to live; and21 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Burnelle Henderson will long be22 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who23 had the great fortune of knowing her.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Burnelle Henderson and26 express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 family of Burnelle Henderson.30 H.
