A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mesha Mainor; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Mesha Mainor has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital2
role she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitm ent to the welfare of the3
citizens of Georgia; and4
WHEREAS, during her tenure in the House of Representatives, Mes ha Mainor authored5
bipartisan legislation establishing the Fulton Technology and Energy Authority, the nation's6
first public agency focused on the fourth industrial revolution workforce; and7
WHEREAS, she further served as vice chairwoman of the Governmen tal Affairs8
Subcommittee on Local Redistricting and Elections and championed legislation promoting9
government spending transparency, school choice, public safety, healthcare, and regulated10
industries; and11
WHEREAS, Mesha Mainor made history as the first African American woman to serve in12
the Georgia General Assembly as a republican, representing a le ading voice for integrity,13
humility, and conservative values; and14

WHEREAS, her extensive public service also includes roles with United States Congressman15
John Lewis, the United States Agency for International Development, and the United States16
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry; and17
WHEREAS, a sixth-generation Georgian, Mesha Mainor was born to Atlanta natives Shirley18
Mainor and Willie Denson, and she descends from distinguished a ncestors such as war19
veteran Julius Hutto Mainor; and20
WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and21
diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have22
earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and23
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
the members of this body recognize and commend Mesha Mainor for her efficient, effective,27
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia as well as extend best wishes28
for continued success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to31
Mesha Mainor.32
