HR925: HR925 Gulledge, Sheriff Gary; commend

25 LC 112 3628 House Resolution 925 By: Representatives Gullett of the 19th, Momtahan of the 17th, New of the 40th, Smith of the 18th, and Kelley of the 16th A RESOLUTION Commending Sheriff Gary Gulledge; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Sheriff Gary Gulledge served with honor and distinction as the 47th sheriff of2 the Paulding County Sheriff's Office from 2008 until his retirement in 2024, concluding his3 exemplary 34-year career in law enforcement where it first began in 1990; and4 WHEREAS, throughout his career, Sheriff Gulledge held roles such as jailer, patrol deputy,5 warrant officer, and K-9 deputy, with much of his pre-sheriff s ervice spent in the K-96 Division, where he and K-9 Basco became the first dual purpose K-9 team in the7 department's history; and8 WHEREAS, as sheriff, he remained accessible to his constituents, represented the Office of9 Sheriff with fairness and professionalism, and played a critica l role in overseeing the10 department's growth, including the development of a new trainin g facility in 2016 and the11 design and construction of a new law enforcement facility and detention center in 2020; and12 WHEREAS, he contributed to law enforcement initiatives across t he state, serving on the13 Georgia Sheriffs' Association Board of Directors and Legislative Committee as well as its14 regional vice president for Region 1; and15 H. R. 925 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3628 WHEREAS, he further served as part of the Georgia Commission on Medical Cannabis, the16 Georgia Department of Corrections Board, the Advisory Board of the Northwest Georgia17 Law Enforcement Training Center, and as chairman of the Haralso n-Paulding Drug18 Taskforce Control Board; and19 WHEREAS, Sheriff Gulledge's unyielding commitment to public saf ety has left a lasting20 impact on Paulding County and set a high standard for future generations of law enforcement21 professionals; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body commend the care, courage, sympathy, a nd selfless dedication26 exhibited by Sheriff Gary Gulledge in carrying out the difficul t duties of his vocation,27 congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement, and extend the most sincere best28 wishes for continued health and happiness.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 Sheriff Gary Gulledge.32 H.
