25 LC 112 3609 House Resolution 915 By: Representative Townsend of the 179th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Celia Young; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, a 12-year-old Georgia resident, Celia Young's passion for service was shaped2 by her time spent with the ACCESS class, where she came to unde rstand the limitations3 faced by others and felt a calling to make a difference; and4 WHEREAS, in 2021, she founded HPIN – Helping People in Need to fulfill her desire to5 help those in need in her community; and6 WHEREAS, Celia Young first created a team of HPIN Ambassadors by inviting her friends7 to join the effort, equipping them with t-shirts and encouraging them to raise funds through8 activities such as lemonade stands and cookie sales; and9 WHEREAS, through these youth-led initiatives, HPIN has collected and distributed essential10 goods including sleeping bags, canned food, and school supplies to local organizations such11 as Saved by Grace, Communities in Schools, and Sparrow's Nest; and12 H. R. 915 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3609 WHEREAS, Celia Young thoughtfully plans HPIN's annual projects prior to each summer,13 and in 2024, she organized a successful silent art auction at L ive Oak Fitness featuring14 artwork by her and her Ambassadors, which raised $4,700 to support charitable efforts; and15 WHEREAS, it is estimated that HPIN has raised between $25,000 and $30,000 in cash and16 in-kind donations since its founding, making a meaningful impact on families and students17 throughout the region; and18 WHEREAS, with the belief that "some people need a little help s ometimes," Celia Young19 has embodied the highest ideals of civic responsibility and phi lanthropy, making it20 abundantly fitting and proper that she be appropriately honored.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body recognize and commend Celia Young for her remarkable23 leadership and service to her community as founder of HPIN – Helping People in Need as24 well as extend best wishes for continued success.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Celia27 Young.28 H.
