25 LC 112 3624 House Resolution 956 By: Representatives Martinez of the 111th, Bonner of the 73rd, Fleming of the 114th, Camp of the 135th, Schofield of the 63rd, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the longstanding partnership between the Province of Q uébec and the State of1 Georgia; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Province of Québec has maintained a permanent pres ence in the State of3 Georgia since 1978, and the two regions are founding states of the Southeast United4 States-Canadian Provinces alliance; and5 WHEREAS, Québec is Georgia's second-largest Canadian export des tination and a6 significant investor in the state's economy, ranking first amon g Canadian provinces for7 foreign direct investment in Georgia from 2014 to 2023; and8 WHEREAS, in 2023, Québec was a critical supplier for Georgia's aerospace sector, ranking9 first internationally in supplying flight simulators, second for turbojets, and eighth for aircraft10 parts while also serving as the world's third-largest aerospace hub; and11 WHEREAS, Québec supplied more than half of all United States im ports of primary12 aluminum in 2023, positioning itself as Georgia's largest international supplier of zinc alloy13 and second-largest supplier of unwrought aluminum, which direct ly supports Georgia's14 automotive and manufacturing industries; and15 H. R. 956 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3624 WHEREAS, Québec significantly contributed to Georgia's transpor tation and automotive16 sectors, ranking second among international importers of Georgia-made buses and third for17 trailers and tires; and18 WHEREAS, Québec was Georgia's fourth-largest international supplier of forestry products19 in 2023, ranking first in particle board, second in softwood lumber, and fourth in joinery and20 carpentry products, all critical to Georgia's construction sector; and21 WHEREAS, around 45 Québec-owned companies currently operate in Georgia, directly22 creating hundreds of local jobs, while more than 50 Georgia-bas ed businesses maintain23 operations in Québec; and24 WHEREAS, Québec holds recognized expertise in quantum computing, a field of emerging25 importance that aligns with Georgia's own interests in developi ng advanced technology26 industries; and27 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le partnership be28 appropriately recognized during this special time.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body honor the decades-long partnership bet ween the Province of31 Québec and the State of Georgia as well as extend best wishes f or many more years of32 mutual prosperity and growth.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the35 public and the press.36 H.
