25 LC 129 0489 House Resolution 968 By: Representatives Dempsey of the 13th, Lumsden of the 12th, and Barton of the 5th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 2025 Awards of Honor recipient, Mimi Weed; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mimi is a Rome native, a graduate of Coosa High School and co-owner of Mel3 & Mimi; and4 WHEREAS, Mimi is very close with her family and family is very important to her; and5 WHEREAS, Mimi enjoys traveling and finding new experiences and adventures with dear6 friends , as well as fashion; and7 WHEREAS, Mimi is a Board member of Friends of the Marshall Fore st, Rome Area8 Heritage Foundation, Relay for Life, and Cancer Navigators; and9 WHEREAS, Mimi continues the legacy of her husband, Robert Weed, through her support10 of the Robert Weed Memorial Marshall Forest Walk in partnership with the Nature11 Conservancy and Federated Garden Clubs of Georgia, 10th Walk 2024; and12 H. R. 968 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0489 WHEREAS, Mimi serves her community through her volunteerism wit h Rome Celebrity13 Dance Challenge 2023, Rome Sym phony Debutante Ball, Floyd Chamb er of Commerce,14 Open Door Home, Junior Service League and Heart of the Community; and15 WHEREAS, Mimi further serves the community through her business , Mel & Mimi, by16 fundraising for Brighter Birthdays Dessert Challenge 2022, Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful, and17 Historic Desoto Theatre Foundation An Evening on the Runway.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body recognize Mimi Weed for her outstandin g dedication to the20 community, commend her as a recipient of the 2025 Heart of the Community Awards Honor21 Recipient, and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mimi24 Weed.25 H.
