25 LC 129 0504 House Resolution 990 By: Representatives Dempsey of the 13th, Lumsden of the 12th, and Barton of the 5th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 2025 Awards of Honor recipient, Dave Roberson; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Dave comes from a family of public servants and he was recently re-elected to3 his second term as Sheriff of Floyd County, where he has 30 years of continuous service; and 4 WHEREAS, Dave is a certified jail officer, peace officer, gener al instructor and crisis5 intervention training instructor through the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training6 Council; and 7 WHEREAS, Dave is a recipient of the 2022 Georgia Department of Community Supervision8 Public Stakeholder Award, a 2018 Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau Superstar9 of Service, and the 2005 Field Services Deputy of the Year; and10 WHEREAS, Dave serves on the Board of Directors of Community Cri minal Justice11 Foundation, Sexual Assault Center of NWGA, Harbor House Child Advocacy Center, Blood12 Assurance Rome, and Vital Grace; and13 H. R. 990 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0504 WHEREAS, Dave serves his community through his volunteerism wit h Rome, Georgia,14 Cares Disaster Relief Efforts, Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Challenger Baseball and15 Basketball Leagues, as well as the Special Olympics of Georgia; and16 WHEREAS, Dave is a member of the Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police, Walk to End17 Alzheimer's, Noon Optimist Club, Exchange Club of Rome, and an Advisory Board Member18 of NextDoor at Living Proof Recovery; and19 WHEREAS, Dave is a graduate of Leadership Rome Class of XXXVI, a past mentor for the20 Rome Middle School Habitudes Program, a Contestant 2017 Rome Ce lebrity Dance21 Challenge, and participates in the Floyd County Sheriff's Offic e Community Programs:22 Sheriff Santa, Santa for Seniors, and F.R.E.E.D.; anf 23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize Dave Roberson for his outsta nding dedication to the27 community, commend him as a recipient of the 2025 Heart of the Community Awards Honor28 Recipient, and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dave31 Roberson.32 H.
