25 LC 129 0497 House Resolution 984 By: Representatives Barnes of the 86th, Roberts of the 52nd, Draper of the 90th, Kendrick of the 95th, Drenner of the 85th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Janel Jeras Green; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Janel Jeras Green on November 2, 2023; and3 WHEREAS, Janel Jeras Green was born on October 28, 1968, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a4 beloved daughter of Robert and Carol Jeras; and5 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to her late husband, Robert Sanders Green6 Sr., and was blessed with a remarkable son, Sanders Jr.; and7 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern8 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and unders tanding she demonstrated to9 her family and friends were admired by others; and10 WHEREAS, as a strong advocate for marginalized communities, she created the Georgia11 Alliance for Social Justice, helped organize the March For Our Lives event, marched with12 Civil Rights icon and congressman John Lewis, and was involved with registering voters and13 organizing elections; and14 H. R. 984 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0497 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation15 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,16 she made this world a better place in which to live; and17 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Janel will long be remembered for her18 love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great19 fortune of knowing her.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory o f Janel Jeras Green and22 express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the25 family of Janel Jeras Green.26 H.
