The House Committee on Motor Vehicles offers the following substitute to HB 1380: A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 40-2-74 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to license plates for persons with disabilities, so as to provide for the issuance of special license plates that display the International Symbol of Access upon the special license plate issued to current and former members of the General Assembly for qualified applicants; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. Code Section 40-2-74 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to license plates for persons with disabilities, is amended by adding a new subsection to read as follows: "(d.1) Any person who qualifies for a license plate pursuant to this Code section and Code Section 40-2-62 shall, upon proper application on a form established by the department for such purpose and payment of a $25.00 manufacturing fee, be issued a license plate which displays an image of the International Symbol of Access and the image for license plates issued pursuant to Code Section 40-2-62." SECTION 2. This Act shall become effective on January 1, 2027. SECTION 3. All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
