HB 1460: Muscogee County; State Court; salaries of the solicitor-general, the chief assistant solicitor-general, and other assistant solicitors-general; modify provisions

This bill changes the local law that created the State Court of Muscogee County by rewriting how the county's prosecuting officials get paid. Currently the law sets pay rules for the solicitor-general (the elected prosecutor in state court) and assistant solicitors-general, and this bill updates those formulas. Under the bill, the solicitor-general's annual salary must be at least 90 percent of what a junior judge of the State Court of Muscogee County earns, including base pay and any local supplement, paid at least monthly from county funds. The chief assistant solicitor-general, appointed by the solicitor-general, must earn at least 80 percent of the solicitor-general's salary. Other assistant and senior assistant solicitors-general have their pay set by the solicitor-general, in line with similarly employed county or state attorneys. The law would take effect the first day of the month after the Governor signs it or it becomes law without a signature.
