House Bill 1547 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Williams of the 168th and DeLoach of the 167th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act to create the board of elections and registration for Liberty County, approved June 3, 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4437), so as to provide for staggered terms of office for certain future appointees to the board; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. An Act to create the board of elections and registration for Liberty County, approved June 3, 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4437), is amended in Section 2 by revising subsection (c) as follows: "(c)(1) Except as provided for in paragraph (2) of this subsection, members serve for terms of four years each and until their successors are duly appointed and qualified. Successors to members whose terms are to expire shall be appointed to take office on the first day of January immediately following the expiration of such initial terms of office. (2) Upon the expiration of the terms of the members appointed by the governing authority of Liberty County pursuant to paragraph (4) of subsection (b) of this section ending on December 31, 2026, said governing authority shall appoint three successors to such members to serve initial terms of office of two years, expiring on December 31, 2028, and until their successors are duly appointed and qualified. Successors to such members serving two-year terms shall thereafter serve terms as provided for in paragraph (1) of this subsection." SECTION 2. All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
